“It's paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to everyone, but the idea of getting old doesn't appeal to anyone.”

                                                                                                                                                                                                 ― Andy Rooney

Living a long life is something that most desire and many plan for. Determining what that looks like is the challenge we face as we arrive at the threshold. The Central Coast Chapter of Aging2.0 has been created to explore ways we can live balanced and meaningful lives in our later years, regardless of the limitations we may face on the journey.

With the help of fellow Central Coast residents, sponsors, and partners, we seek to expand upon the various aspects of the global Aging2.0’s Grand Challenges with an immediate focus on:

      • Financial Wellness – preventing elder fraud and abuse, along with strategies for how to pay for various forms of care;

      • Engagement & Purpose – creating and maintaining an active life full of relationships, social inclusion and fulfillment;

      • Brain Health – communicating the latest technologies and approaches to maintaining an agile mind including diet, exercise and early diagnosis and prevention.

The Central Coast Chapter of Aging2.0 embraces San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Barbara Counties. We invite engagement from anyone in our local communities who is interested in these topics and/or who may have expertise to contribute. We desire to create a robust and active multi-disciplinary group which includes the general public, a broad range of medical and health care providers, home care and senior living communities, financial and legal experts, technology and other start-ups, new business incubators and venture funding experts.

Our goal is to have an inaugural meeting in San Luis Obispo in March 2020, with subsequent quarterly meetings based on local interest. We also plan to make regular use of screen sharing technology to communicate across the wider area as we develop our leadership team.
