Topic: Innovation and Technology to Support Healthy Aging for Older Adults

Organized and Hosted by: Aging2.0 Dallas, Seniors Blue Book, Dallas Area Gerontological Society and University of North Texas Dallas

Target Audience: Healthcare professionals, social workers, nurses, care managers, aging experts, entrepreneurs.

Deadline: Poster submission must be received no later than October 1st, 2019.

Submit:

Poster PDFs should be submitted to dallas@aging2.com

Format:

Posters must include the following

  • Title
  • Name of author and any co-authors, and institutional affiliations
  • Problem
    • Identify a problem that affects healthy aging of older adults and/or caregivers of older adults
    • The problem must be supported
  • Past, Present and Future/Innovative Solution
    • Describe the way the identified problem has been addressed in the past
    • Review ways the identified problem is currently being addressed
    • Present innovation and/or technology that can assist in providing a solution or support for the problem identified.
    • We are seeking innovative ideas. It could include the use of existing technology, however the innovation and/or technology does not have to currently exist.
  • Discussion/Outcome
    • Discuss any obstacles with implementation
    • Explain how this innovation and/or technology supports healthy aging
  • References
    • All references must be included. Provide citations using an APA format
  • Content
    • The subject matter of your poster must be EDUCATIONAL.
    • Content should take approximately 15 minutes for a reader to review and comprehend (roughly 1500 words).
    • Posters are reviewed for approval as stand-alone submissions. No supporting materials may be sent.
    • You can include numbers, tables, photos, and illustrations.
    • Posters should be easy to read.
    • Need a topic? Visit The National Institutes of Health website (NIH.gov) – this institute supports many scientific studies.

Judging:

Poster judging is a two-tier process.

    1.  Application Submissions

  • Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
    • Relevance to healthy aging for older adults and/or caregivers of older adults
    • Originality and innovative nature of solution
    • Effectiveness of innovation and/or technology in supporting healthy aging
    • Quality of poster display including: completeness and flow of information, ease of read, use of color and graphics
  • The top 6 poster entries will be chosen by a panel of judges to be displayed at the 30th Annual Dallas Area Gerontological Society Fall Forum on October 17, 2019.
    • Each of the top 6 poster entries chosen will receive 1 attendee ticket to attend the DAGS Fall Forum on October 17th, 2019
   2.  Onsite Poster Presentation
  • Onsite judging for the top 6 poster presentations will be held on October 17th, 2019.
  • The displayed entries will be judged by Forum attendees
  • Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
    • Overall message, problem and solution as it relates to healthy aging for older adults and/or caregivers of older adults

Display and Recognition:

  • The top 6 poster presentations chosen will be printed and displayed by Aging2.0 Dallas at the 30th Annual Dallas Area Gerontological Society (DAGS) Fall Forum on October 17, 2019.
  • Each of the top 6 poster entries chosen will receive 1 ticket to attend the DAGS Fall Forum on October 17th, 2019 and an annual DAGS membership.
  • One submission will be awarded first place and earn the following:
    • Poster Presentation published on SeniorsBlueBook.com
    • Announced on Linked-In with a link to their presentation
    • Announced on Aging2.com/Dallas and in an upcoming Aging2.0 Dallas newsletter
    • Announced on dags.org with a link to their presentation
    • No monetary awards are offered
