Join us in conversation. The COVID-19 situation is a new experience for everyone. Past national "challenges" are insightful reference points, but the scale of the national response to the current situation is unprecedented in modern times. The London A2.0 chapter wants to share experience and knowledge with colleagues and set an information sharing agenda that runs for the next four months (and maybe longer).

We want you to help us set the information agenda for the Aging2.0 UK community: what should be our focus, how often should we share, what are the main challenges and who are the key stakeholders?   Please join us to share your experience of the crisis and what information is most useful.  We'll begin with the formal care sector, then discuss informal care and volunteering.  By the end of our conversation, we hope to have nailed down a schedule of webinars for the summer of "social distancing" and COVID-19.

The care sector was in need of dramatic changes before Brexit came along and then COVID-19 has changed our world in ways that we are still trying to better understand.  Older people are asked to self-isolate for safety.  Loneliness, care staffing, care funding are just some of the big issues that must be addressed.  Let's share our experience and work through the situation together.  Listen to some people on the front line, share your views and let us know we should cover in more depth in the future.

Our speakers include the onHand CEO, Sanjay Lobo, the Local Treasures CEO and Founder, Sarah Heyworth, plus Dissideo Founder, Hannah Bruce, and her colleague, Sam Knight.  Hannah and Sam will share their experience in the formal care sector with care operators and local authorities.  Sanjay and Sarah will talk about how rapidly things are changing around informal care and volunteering.

-------------------

onHand offers 5,000+ volunteers ready to door drop: Shopping, Medicine collection/drop offs, Urgent Errands and other Essentials. They are happy to offer these services to the elderly and others who are self-isolating;

  • We are growing volunteer sign up by 400+ a day;
  • We have the technology to sign up 1,000's more, instantly letting them know about the nearest opportunities to give help; and
  • Mostly importantly, we ID-check and DBS check ALL volunteers: the elderly are the most vulnerable at this time, so we make sure to know our volunteers are vetted.

Local Treasures offers local people with over 30 years experience on your doorstep, ready to help you.

  • Local Treasures is a one stop shop to get a multitude of jobs done around the home. We started with a handful of people all over 50, many who are still with us today
  • The people we find for you (our Treasures) do all the hard work whilst our office make sure they are a perfect match for your needs.
