Join us for the first event of 2018 to hear speakers discuss their innovative approaches to nutrition for older adults. From ingredients to delivery methods, these meal services address access to food, physical health, mental health, well-being and disease prevention.
Euphebe (“you-fee-bee”) is predicated upon the fact that today’s highly processed diet of refined grains, stripped of their natural fiber and loaded with added sugar is driving chronic disease. Euphebe combines the convenience of whole food, plant based meals along with a technology platform of real-life coaching. In the past two years, they have begun working with leading cardiologists, endocrinologists, internists etc. and have remarkable results. They are particularly focused on working with physicians where patients have elevated LDL, pre-diabetic, type II diabetic or have elevated inflammation.
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels operates in virtually every community in America through our network of more than 5,000 independently-run local programs. While the diversity of each program's services and operations may vary based on the needs and resources of their communities, they are all committed to supporting their senior neighbors to live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes. Together, we galvanize the resources of local community organizations, businesses, donors, sponsors and more than two million volunteers – bolstered by supplemental funding from the Older Americans Act – into a national safety net for our seniors.
Nadja has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from King’s College, London, and a Ph.D. in Quantum Chemistry from St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge. Prior to founding Euphebe, Nadja was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in London, and subsequently founded WhiteCap, working with a number of large consumer goods companies, reviving under-performing brands. She is a board member of the Institute of Responsible Nutrition and holds the Certificate in Culinary Nutrition from the Natural Gourmet Institute. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
In his role at Citymeals on Wheels, Sanchez oversees the contracted community based organizations that Citymeals partners with to deliver over 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals to over 18,000 homebound elderly throughout New York City. He also coordinates with the Citymeals warehouse to ensure all shelf-stable meal delivery programs are delivered efficiently. Jose frequently represents Citymeals as a spokesperson and presents at conferences on aging services.
