The Orange County Aging2.0 Chapter, in partnership with Calit2, IrisOC, and the Irvine Health Foundation welcome our guests and panelists to this event to see how research is being used through a variety of tactics (including hardware and software) that are proving successful. We hope to engage in meaningful conversation that will drive the use of technology to positive behavioral changes. We hope that you will join us for this FREE event.
In addition to the panel discussion, the event will be followed with time for networking.
Director of Technology and Research
Lena Riess, Ph.D., is a researcher focusing on the interaction of older adults with assistive technologies. In her consulting practice, she applies insights from her research as well as behavior change theories to support businesses to assess and improve technology adoption.
Before her doctoral studies, she managed global research projects, including molecular and genetic epidemiology,x at Germany’s based Helmholtz Research Institute. Lena has a background in IT and Software Engineering, holds an engineering degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Applied Science Upper Austria, and a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology from the University of Munich.

Aging2.0 Orange County Ambassador / Irvine Health Foundation
With an eclectic background including 14 years as a middle school English teacher and coach, creating an event planning company with 200+ events in her portfolio, and then spending a few years corralling a team of creative engineers in unconventional commercial real estate, Ellen is now the Vice President of the Irvine Health Foundation, a foundation focused on technology-enabled healthy living focusing on the populations of older adults and military veterans. As Ellen has been piloting new programs throughout her career, she is always looking for innovative and creative opportunities. In addition to her role at IHF, Ellen is also the Director of Chapters and Community Engagement at Aging2.0 as well as the founder and ambassador of the Orange County Chapter. Ellen is a two-time cancer survivor, with a dedicated mission to optimizing health and wellness. In her free time, she enjoys painting, writing, and being outdoors. Ellen resides in Orange County, California with her husband and two kids - a human baby boy and a barking 4-legged girl.
