The Orange County Strategic Plan for Aging's Tech Committee is presenting our October event with Jo Ekblad of Laguna Beach Seniors and Ericka Danczak of the Orange County Office on Aging. We are happy to welcome all attendees to this FREE event to learn more about how seniors are adapting to technology as well as how we can better identify ways to help bridge the digital divide. Ericka Danczak is the Director of Aging and Veterans Services for the County. She oversees both the Orange County Office on Aging, and the Orange County Veterans Services Office. Ericka has over 20 years of county management experience, leading programs for vulnerable populations including older adults, caregivers, persons with disabilities, veterans and military families, families in poverty, and child welfare. Ericka participates in several county and statewide initiatives to help advance programs for older adults and veterans, and represents the needs of those groups within Orange County. She believes in fostering public - private partnerships to bring high quality, cost effective services that are responsive to the needs of our community.
Jo made the transition from the corporate world to the nonprofit sector five years ago when she joined the staff at Laguna Beach Seniors. Initially hired as a part-time marketing coordinator, she eventually moved into her current role of Programming/Communications Director. Prior to 2015, Jo spent over 20 years in corporate brand management, marketing and strategic planning for some of the world’s best-known brands in natural and organic foods, healthcare, hospitality, media and publishing including, Whole Foods Market, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Marriott, and Fox TV. Jo holds a BS in Communications from the University of Illinois. She loves the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks, Pickleball, and is a three-time, top-to-bottom Grand Canyon hiker.
