Sao Paulo

In this joint event of Aging 2.0 Buenos Aires and São Paulo, conceived by Ambassador Alicia Moszkowski, we will discuss the opportunities at hand for founders of the Mercosul market, composed by founding members Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela; and associated countries Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guiana, Peru and Suriname. Altogether 250 million inhabitants, of which more than 50 million are 50+. Due to the rapid growth of the elderly population in the region, specially in Brazil, where 16% of the population is of 60+, and is expected to reach 31% by 2050, the opportunities for entrepreneurs abound. However, there are also challenges, such as cultural, social, legal and tax-related issues that need to be correctly understood and addressed in order to increase the chances of success. The two biggest countries in the region are Argentina and Brazil, which already have an intense exchange of trade, and entrepreneurs in Argentina have started unicorn entreprises in Brazil, such as Mercado Livre and Decolar – in part due to the size of the Brazilian market, of over 210 million inhabitants The idea behind the event is to discuss the possibilities for founders and companies that wish to innovate for the 50+ market in the region, with a focus on the Argentinean and Brazilian markets. To address these issues both Prof. Jose Ricardo Jauregui, president of the International Association of Geriatrics and Gerontoly, from Buenos Aires and an renowned expert on longevity issues, and Sergio W. Duque Estrada, Aging2.0’s representative for South America were invited in this very special event, moderated by the Argentinean journalist Claudio Destéfano (El Clarín; El Observador; and founder of the business site www.dbiz.today). The event has the support of WeCare Argentina, a premium elderly residence company).
