Senior Care: Pandemic Pivots and a New Normal
Panel Discussion & Startup Spotlights

The global Covid-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted older adults and senior care providers were on the front lines of the fight against the deadly virus — but necessity is the mother of invention! Hear from senior care leaders about how they innovated quickly and carefully to keep residents and staff safe while keeping their businesses running during the pandemic. Then hear from startups who jumped in with tech-enabled solutions to help keep residents, staff and families safe, engaged and connected during Covid. After the fury of technology adoption and adaptations to programs/policies that happened during covid, the panelist will discuss what the “new normal” will look like in senior care post-covid.

From Sheltering in Place to a New Model for Aging in Place: Rethinking Connection, Engagement and Wellbeing
Panel Discussion & Startup Spotlights

During the Covid-19 pandemic, much of the world had the shared experience of “sheltering in place.” During this time, people of all ages found ways to get products and services delivered to their homes. In record numbers, consumers turned to online grocery delivery, meal delivery services, online exercise classes, medication delivery and virtual doctors visits. While personal and professional interactions moved onto Facetime and Zoom to keep people connected, engaged and productive. How will our collective experience and increased adoption of tech-enabled solutions redefine Aging in Place in the years ahead?

Digitizing Death: A New Era of End of Life Innovation?
Panel Discussion & Startup Spotlights

While the vast majority of people recognize that talking to loved ones about end-of-life is important, only about a quarter of people have done so.  Over the past few years, and accelerated by Covid, a number of apps and services have entered the marketplace to help guide consumers through everything from will writing and capturing digital legacies to funeral planning and grieving. On the healthcare side, we’re seeing an increase in palliative care / hospice utilization including innovative virtual and in-home care models These next generation tools are changing the way we plan for, experience and process end of life individually and collectively.

Risky Business: Continued Evolution of Care Models & Payment Models
Panel Discussion & Startup Spotlights

Older adults represent the largest and fastest growing consumer of healthcare services around the world. In the US, the healthcare system is being redesigned to better align incentives, decrease costs and improve health outcomes. The changing incentive structures are creating new priorities and payment mechanisms within the healthcare system − in particular a focus on post-acute care, care management, patient engagement and providing quality care in the least expensive setting possible. New Medicare codes, expanded supplemental benefits and bundled payments are also creating new opportunities (and funding streams!) around chronic care management, care transitions, advanced care planning, telemedicine, non-medical home care and more.

These strong regulatory tailwinds (many accelerated by Covid) not only create new demand for outcomes data and tech-enabled care models, but also creates new potential payors who have an increasingly vested interest in delivering high quality, cost-effective care. Hear from risk takers, providers and technology companies about how they are collaborating to capitalize on these trends and opportunities.

Big Brands, Big Moves in Aging
Panel Discussion

The large and growing segment of older consumers around the world is poised for transformative impact economically and socially. In the US alone in 2018, the 50+ population contributed $8.3 trillion in economic activity. Across all product categories, 50+ consumers spend more than any other Generation, yet historically less than 10% of marketing spend has been focused on older adults. That is all changing as major brands and startups alike seek to capitalize on this sizeable market opportunity. Large consumer product and consumer tech companies have had relationships with these consumers during earlier stages of life. Hear how these big brands are looking to evolve and expand their relationships with these consumers as they become caregivers, retirees, grandparents and older adults themselves.
